In September 2010, Hotmail made major changes that toughened the restrictions on bulk senders with low read rates. This means that the less folks that “view” your emails, the worse your domain reputation gets and your delivery gets hurt.

If you consistently send 1000 emails, and only 15 people read it, Hotmail begins to suspect that those 15 readers are the exception and not the rule. They assume the other 985 people don’t want to receive your emails. (We at Mad Mimi know that they signed up for your emails, but it’s Hotmail’s call).

Don’t worry though, there are solutions for this!

What we’re doing is suppressing Hotmail (and Live and MSN) email addresses that have been “unresponsive” for a year or more. By unresponsive, we mean those folks who didn’t “view” or click any email in a long long time.

There’s a few benefits to this action! It’ll help remove old and abandoned addresses, improve your delivery and keep Mad Mimi safe too! Also, you won’t be paying for contacts who don’t read your emails!

If you’d like us to elaborate on anything, just send us an email to support@madmimi.com and we’ll help out.
